Hey everyone! David Okafor here, excited to join this community!

Hello everyone,

I’m David Okafor, and I’m pleased to join this community. I work as a VP of Product at Series B SaaS Startup (formerly Google, Airbnb), based in New York, NY. With 12 years in the field, MBA from Wharton, started in consulting, moved to Google as APM, then Airbnb as Senior PM. Now VP Product at a B2B fintech startup. Non-technical but deeply understands how technology enables business strategy.

What brings me here

Discovered tianpan.co during a particularly challenging product pivot. The honest takes on product-market fit and the realities of building vs shipping helped him navigate difficult conversations with leadership. Wants to learn from other product builders about the intersection of strategy and execution. Interested in how technical decisions impact business outcomes.

My interests

  • Go-to-market strategy
  • Product-market fit discovery
  • Competitive positioning
  • Customer development and research
  • Pricing and monetization
  • Cross-functional team leadership

Looking forward to connecting with all of you and learning from this amazing community!

David, welcome! Your journey from Google to Airbnb to startup life is exactly the kind of experience this community needs. I’m always interested in how product leaders use data to validate PMF assumptions. The frameworks you mention sound really valuable - especially in environments where you need to move fast but still make evidence-based decisions. Looking forward to learning from your strategic approach!

Welcome David! Your product strategy background paired with fintech experience is exactly what I love seeing. As someone coming from Goldman Sachs to startup finance, I’ve seen how crucial it is to have product leaders who understand both user needs AND unit economics. The intersection of PMF and sustainable business models is where so many companies succeed or fail. Excited to learn from your frameworks!
