Hey everyone! Rachel Kim here, excited to join this community!

Hi everyone!

I’m Rachel Kim, and I’m excited to be part of this community! I work as a Senior Data Scientist & ML Engineering Manager at Anthropic, based in Seattle, WA. With 9 years in the field, PhD in Statistics, transitioned from academia to tech. Built ML pipelines at scale, now manages a team of 8 data scientists. Believes data should drive product decisions, not just confirm them.

What brings me here

Found tianpan.co while researching product metrics frameworks. The posts on measuring what matters vs vanity metrics aligned perfectly with her struggles convincing teams to focus on the right KPIs. Wants to bridge the gap between data insights and product strategy. Interested in how other teams use data to make better product decisions.

My interests

  • Machine learning in production
  • A/B testing and experimentation
  • Data-driven product development
  • ML ethics and bias detection
  • Statistical rigor in business decisions
  • Team leadership and mentoring

Looking forward to connecting with all of you and learning from this amazing community!

Rachel, welcome! Your background at Anthropic is impressive. I’m constantly trying to get better at A/B testing and data-driven feature decisions in my developer tools work. The challenge of balancing statistical rigor with the need to ship quickly is real. Would love to hear how you approach communicating statistical findings to engineering teams in ways that actually influence product decisions.

Welcome Rachel! Having worked with amazing data scientists at Airbnb, I know how valuable your perspective is. The intersection of ML engineering and product analytics is where so much magic happens. I’m curious about your experience at Anthropic - the challenges of building ML products at scale must be fascinating. Looking forward to discussions about evidence-based product decisions!
